| Here is a letter to the editor of the Novato Advance regarding the uselessness of our Novato Police Department. |
| No ‘peace’ in Novato peace officers My comment and concern is regarding the new breed of peace officer in our city of Novato. On Wednesday morning my friend was detained and interrogated as a suspect in an apparent robbery of Bank of America on Grant Avenue while on his way to work. Although he did not match the description of the supposed bank robber that was given by a witness, my friend was searched and questioned for 30 to 40 minutes. While digging through his backpack and requiring the time of several police officers that surrounded him, the true suspect was probably long gone. If the peace officers of Novato took the time to get to know their community, they would have quickly determined that my friend did not fit the description of the suspect or pose a threat. What part of this procedure protected or served my friend and his safety in the community? The whole thing has made me feel less safe. His supposed getaway vehicle, by the way, was a clunker bike with bells on it. Thanks for treating one of Novato's best and well-known citizens like a criminal with no apology. Good job Novato PD!
